Avocado peels are often tossed without a second thought, but what if I told you these scraps could be transformed into something valuable right at home? If you love avocados as much as I do, you know how often those peels pile up. Luckily, there are simple ways to reuse them that benefit your health, your plants, and even your hair.

These three surprising ideas will make you see avocado peels not as waste, but as a natural treasure youโ€™ll want to keep on hand.

Natural fertilizer for thriving plants

What does fear of spiders, cockroaches, wasps, or jellyfish reveal about your personality according to psychology?

One of the easiest and most effective uses for avocado peels is turning them into a nutrient-rich fertilizer for your houseplants or garden. After enjoying your avocado, give the peel a quick rinse and let it dry. Once dry, break it into small pieces and mix it into the soil of your potted plants.

This simple addition supplies your plants with essential nutrients like potassium and other minerals that support healthy growth. I’ve tried this in my own home with my potted herbs and noticed they grew greener and stronger within weeks. It feels great to feed your plants naturally and keep waste out of the trash.

Health-boosting avocado peel infusion

The best activity to strengthen muscles without going to the gym after 65

Did you know that avocado peels can be brewed into a powerful infusion that might improve your digestive health? According to natural health experts, steeping avocado peels in hot water creates a drink traditionally used in some cultures to tackle parasites, manage diarrhea, support gut health, and even reduce levels of triglycerides and cholesterol.

To make this infusion, simmer clean avocado peels in water, let the mixture cool, then strain it before drinking. Some recommend sipping this on an empty stomach multiple times a day for a few days. While research is ongoing, this age-old remedy is a natural alternative worth exploring. For anyone interested in holistic health practices, itโ€™s a fascinating addition to your wellness toolkit.

Homemade avocado seed hair tonic for vibrant hair growth

What does it mean when someone constantly interrupts conversations according to psychology

While weโ€™re talking about avocado scraps, the pit itself is also a gemโ€”especially for your hair care routine. If you’ve battled dry scalp, dull hair, or slow growth, this might be the secret you didnโ€™t know you needed.

Making a hair tonic involves grating the avocado seed and boiling it with water and cinnamon for about 10 minutes. After the mixture cools, strain the liquid and pour it into a spray bottle. Spritz it onto your scalp regularly, and store the tonic in the refrigerator to keep it fresh longer.

Users report that this tonic helps nourish hair follicles, reduces dandruff, prevents hair loss, adds a natural shine, and speeds up growth. I started using a similar homemade tonic a few months ago and noticed less hair falling out during wash days and a healthier scalp overall. Nature offers incredible remedies if weโ€™re willing to try them.

Rethink your avocado waste and see how these simple ideas can bring new life to your kitchen scraps. Have you ever tried using avocado peels or pits in your home? What was your experience? 1. I have used both avocado peels and pits or seeds, along with banana peels for many years to fertilize my favorite garden herbs like basil and bitterleaves. I simply blend them up with water and simply add this mixture to the roots of my plants. It makes for a fantastic increase in growth and size.

  3. Thank you for your great ideas for the use of avocado shells. I absolutely love avocados and have a freezer full of them. I use my avocado shells as an exfoliating pad for face, neck and body, because of the oil. I prepare the frozen shells (2), by placing them in a small bowl of warm water for 3 minutes, the shell will become pliable enough to turn inside out. Next I gently rub my face, neck and I leave it on for about 5 minutes, then I rinse with warm water, then cold and the oil in the avocado leaves your face feeling soft and moisturized. I exfoliate with the avocado shells every two weeks. I’m frugal and I like to find practical and other use of organic items. I’ve steeped orange peels and sprayed on my hair. I place banana peels in a gallon jar with water and use on my plants once a month. Thank you!!

  8. Wow…I’m enlightened
    I have an avocado tree
Last year it produced 235 large avocados
Sadly I was not aware of the potential of all the parts of the fruit
Consequently I wasted so much of my harvest.
Thankfully I found this site and will not do that again
I’m very hyped to see where my avocados take me
    Thank you thank you

  9. Avocado ‘s are great. To keep them longer in the crisper place a lemon next to them. They will keep for ages. Also just to add I read they have a compound in them similar to latex. So if you are allergic to latex but like avocados check for itchiness after eating.
